The Consell Insular d'Eivissa (Ibiza local council) has a pavilion in the area of Sa Coma and this location is seen as being ideal for establishing a delegation of the Balearic Islands School of Hospitality in Ibiza.
The aim of the Ibiza School of Hospitality is to become a gastronomic and culinary centre of excellence and it is to be created with the vision of being a strategic instrument in terms of qualification, knowledge management, labour insertion, and human and professional growth. The school will use training strategies to increase the competitiveness of companies in the sector and it will adapt constantly to the technological changes of the current knowledge society.
The main objectives of the Balearic Islands School of Hospitality in Ibiza are:
- To become a school of gastronomic and culinary excellence focused mainly on the teaching of national and international gastronomy, the culinary art in general, the spreading of local culinary traditions and the analysis of new trends.
- The teaching of specialties included in the study plan of the Balearic Islands School of Hospitality.
- The issuing of Professional Certifications that are included in the databases of the specialties of the Spanish Public Employment Service, mainly: basic pastry operations, catering management, baking, rural accommodation, bar and cafeteria services, cooking and languages (English, German and Russian), among others.
- Communication of the latest ideas and continuous training actions.
In order to carry out the execution of the project, the restoration of the existing buildings must be prioritised over demolishing them and constructing something new. Therefore, the most viable option technically would be to set up the School of Hospitality in building 402, which used to be the canteen, dining room and kitchens during its military use.
