The project
The Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries Regional Ministry has set out the collaborative actions required to be able carry out the tasks of this project within the legal framework of competition.
The aim of this presented initiative is to improve the social conditions of the population and the perception of users (social and economic sustainability), and the positive impact on the environment through conservation management in spaces of environmental importance (environmental sustainability).
Regarding territorial scope, actions will be taken in all coastal areas, and occasionally in other environmentally relevant areas (Natura 2000 Network and Protected Natural Spaces) outlined in Law 5/2005, 26th May, for the Conservation of Spaces of Environmental Relevance (LECO) of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
More specifically, the project includes the following actions:
- Planning and coordination of the tasks to be carried out by the Environmental Quality Service.
- Picking up rubbish left in coves, on beaches and in other important areas, or in other natural spaces of environmental relevance.
- Sorting and classifying the rubbish collected and transporting it to the authorized recycling or treatment points.
- Other conservation and maintenance tasks (removal of invasive species, notification of incidents and environmental monitoring...) of the places included in this project.
- Gathering data, sending information, processing and analysing results, drafting reports. Gathering and sending graphic material, photographs, videos, etc.
- Public information on the campaign for users of the area while maintenance and cleaning tasks are being carried out.
- Collaboration with public entities (town halls, island councils) and private bodies (associations, voluntary groups, individuals) in the work to improve the environmental quality of the areas included in the project.
- Making the public aware of the project and promoting the results obtained.
