Peguera Boulevard, the main shopping street in the tourist area, will be redeveloped with support from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) fund. The project includes two phases of work to revamp pavements, infrastructure and plant life, with a sustainable approach that prioritises energy efficiency and environmental improvement.

In the heart of Peguera, one of the main tourist areas in Calvià, the Boulevard has been a gathering place for locals and tourists for decades. The progressive deterioration of its pavements and infrastructure has led to the drafting of a redevelopment project that seeks to renovate the street from a sustainable approach.
The project will involve completely revamping pavements and roadways, replacing trees with low water consumption species, adding permeable green spaces and installing LED lighting. The work will be carried out in two phases: the first between November 2025 and March 2026, and the second in the same period the following year, covering a total area of more than 15,000 square metres.
Beyond serving as a shopping street, Peguera Boulevard serves a strategic purpose for mobility: in the event of closures along the Ma-1 motorway, it becomes the only alternative road with capacity for heavy vehicles. This aspect further justifies its structural reinforcement and reparations to underground service networks, such as the sewerage system.
The aim of the project is twofold: to prevent the deterioration of a long-standing tourist destination and to encourage the use of public space throughout the year. As such, the initiative aligns with the priorities of the ITS fund: reducing seasonality in tourism, improving urban quality and sustainability.
