The Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra is a public organisation established as a foundation. The ownership of the orchestra is held by the Government of the Balearic Islands with the participation of the Island Councils and Palma City Council.
The orchestra represents the main showpiece worldwide of the musical culture of the Balearic Islands and has a long historical trajectory of renowned prestige on international stages. It is often considered to be the main cultural ambassador of the Balearic Islands and is also an important tourist attraction due to the quality and variety of its performances and its first-class repertoire.
However, the orchestra is currently suffering from a lack of basic infrastructure, given that its headquarters have become obsolete and do not enable the necessary rehearsals and technical preparations for performances, with the minimum essential acoustics.
Therefore, the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra Foundation has raised the need for a new venue that would meet the rehearsal requirements of the musicians, and which could also be used as a place for the artistic creation of composers from the Balearic Islands and have the capacity to host rehearsals and small performances of other international orchestras or different musical groups.
