What does it consist of?

The project consists of the construction of a pipeline of 15,350 meters linking the municipalities of Petra and Manacor, as well as a reservoir regulator in the latter, The objective is to supply in good conditions the populations with quantity and quality of water deficit, with to promote the recovery of aquifers and to prevent their exploitation.

The project

The aim of the water supply network plan of the island of Mallorca, among others things, is to have the required infrastructure to guarantee a good water supply to the municipalities located in those areas where there is a shortage and the quality of the water sources is not suitable for usage.

The technical services of the Department of Construction and Water Supply and Desalination Plant Management have carried out a study of the existing problems and planned a series of actions with the aim of reaching the east coast of Mallorca. The project consists of laying 15,350 meters of pipeline linking the municipalities of Petra and Manacor, as well as a regulating water storage tank of 18,000m3 in Manacor.

The objective is to provide a good quality water supply to the populations that lack both the adequate quantity and quality of water, to improve the recovery of the water sources and avoid their excess usage, and to prevent the Salinisation of the subsoil as a consequence of the advancement of marine intrusion.

This project is the second phase of the "Drinking water supply pipeline to Manacor" project. The planned pipelines are expected to meet the demand of Ariany, Petra and Manacor and also for a future expansion of the network to the east coast of Mallorca.
