Ibiza Town Council will install three escalators between the streets of Carrer de Juan Ramón Jiménez and Carrer de Arxiduc Lluís Salvador. This will make it easier for both locals and visitors to travel between key cultural and tourist areas such as Puig des Molins Museum and Figueretes beach.

The upper area of the Puig des Molins neighbourhood is uneven, making it difficult for pedestrians to move between different points of interest in the city centre. To solve this daily obstacle for both citizens and visitors to the island outside the high season, three escalators will be installed.
The new route will run along Juan Ramón Jiménez street, to link up with Arxiduc Lluís Salvador and improve connectivity between spaces such as the Puig des Molins Monographic Museum, the observatory of the same name and the Figueretes promenade. The work aims to streamline mobility in an area that welcomes a range of tourist profiles, including pensioners on IMSERSO trips.
The plan is strategic in terms of accessibility and the recovery of the cultural environment. This improvement is expected to reduce seasonality in tourism and improve the everyday lives of those living in the surrounding streets, who currently have to deal with steep flights of steps with no mechanical alternatives.
Beyond the impact on society and tourism, the project responds to a demand that has been raised in citizen participation processes since 2018. Its design will comply with accessibility standards set by state regulations, opting for a more inclusive and connected public space layout.
Ambitious project to transform the municipal sports ground into the go-to place in the region for sustainable sport and a driving force to reduce the seasonality of tourism
