Based on article 7, chapter IV of the Annual Plan for the Promotion of Sustainable Tourism 2023, a legal report has approved the intervention in Building 202 of the Sa Coma Island Services Park.
Continuous and effective monitoring of activities on the maritime coastline presents a great need for ecosystem preservation. Actions carried out by the Ibiza Fishing Inspection Service include controlling recreational and professional fishing, which is jointly controlled by the emergency services.
Main objectives
Priority objectives for the refurbishment of Building 202 of the Sa Coma Island Services Park are:
Control of illegal fishing and monitoring of endangered protected species.
Implementation of protocols for anchoring boats close to the coast based on current regulations.
Supervision of boat parties and avoidance of mass landings in protected areas.
Avoid trespassing in the cove area.
Description
The refurbishment of Building 202 will re-erect a two-storey structure with a surface area of 1,430 m2: 600 m2 on the ground floor, 596 m2 on the first floor and 234 m2 on the second floor.
The building used to be a hall belonging to the former Sa Coma military armoury. The restructuring includes the demolition of inner walls and partitions, repairing possible damage to the existing structure, as well as reinforcement where strictly necessary. The existing roof will also be replaced.
Building 202 is divided into 12 rooms to accommodate up to 38 people, with common areas and administrative areas.
The costs of setting up and running the services are not financed. For this reason, Ibiza Island Council is promoting collaboration agreements to provide for the expenses inherent to the ordinary operation and management of the service. They do not expect this to be a recurrent annual expenditure.
