The City Council of Ibiza has submitted to the Local Council of Ibiza the infrastructure renovation project of Ses Pitiüses seafront. The Ses Pitiüses promenade, better known as the Ses Figueretes promenade, was built in the 1980s and since then only partial maintenance actions have been carried out, which has led to certain technical shortcomings as a result of the passing of time.
Therefore, it is necessary to reorganise the public space along the promenade as well as the terraces of the bars and restaurants, which in some places seriously restrict the normal flow of pedestrians. It is also necessary to improve the water and electricity network to adapt to the needs of this area, which today is not only a residential area, but one of the most important tourist places in the municipality.
The present draft to renovate the infrastructure of the Ses Pitiüses seafront covers only one of the four sections of the south coast of the city of Ibiza in which the City Council plans to take action, specifically the area between milestones 57 and 96 of the DPMT (Maritime-terrestrial Public Domain) of the Municipality of Ibiza.
Work will therefore be carried out on all the existing urban infrastructure related to pedestrians and emergency, maintenance and delivery vehicles. In addition, new water and electricity infrastructure is planned to meet the current demand in the area.
