INTRES: invest, research and innovate

What does it consist of?

The INTRES project is about capturing talented researchers and research managers in the different stages of their career. In this regard, it contemplates the start-up of the programmes: TECH, JUNIOR, FOLIUM and GESTIÓN, which promote the selection and hiring of researchers and research support staff working on the triad of investment, research and innovation in the IdISBa.

The project

The IdISBa is an entity with the legal basis of a foundation, publicly owned but operated as a private organisation, which forms part of the instrumental public sector and which was established to conduct and promote health research (basic, clinical, applied, epidemiological, etc.), in order to help improve the public’s health.

The INTRES project has three objectives:

• Boost investment in knowledge as an instrument of diversification and economic growth.

• Generate, capture, recover and retain within the IdISBa research talent in the field of health research and innovation, so as to create an excellent research ecosystem that fosters internationalisation and research with a high added value.

• Promote new lines of research that will meet the strategic health demands of the Balearic Islands population that are not currently covered.

• Consolidate research growth with a management structure that can meet the growing demand for activities carried out alongside research.

• Consolidate current lines of health-based research that are considered to be strategic and necessary to reinforce.

• Train young researchers in a range of skills (entrepreneurship, leadership, communication) to facilitate the knowledge transfer to society.

• Boost the return on investment by disseminating and increasing current scientific knowledge (so that new research can be conducted and developed), consisting of clinical guidelines, patents or other figures of industrial protection that help ensure the knowledge generated is geared towards helping improve public.

All calls for applications will meet the principles established by the European Union for hiring researchers based on the OTM-R model (open, transparent and merit-based recruitment).
It should be added that the IdISBa is currently the only institution in the Balearic Islands that has an HR Excellence in Research Award granted by the European Commission, which identifies institutions that generate and support the existence of an environment that is stimulating and conducive to research work.
