Sharing science, disseminating it, is the best way for citizens to build their scientific knowledge, appreciate the knowledge gained and accept the importance of innovation as a way for humanity to advance. Giving visibility to investment made by public administrations into R&D will help people understand its importance to sustainability in the Balearic Islands. Because with communication we all win.

By creating a Scientific Culture Unit it will be possible, on the one hand, to plan, promote, co-ordinate and bring together courses of action relating to scientific communication and dissemination, and on the other drive research that is responsible and more open, transparent and participatory, as part of the Science and Technology Plan.
This is about exploring new channels that have opened up, such as social media, but above all it’s about holding an attentive, inquisitive gaze so as not to lose sight of the fact that communicating science is the work of all of use: journalists, communicators, researchers, teachers, students, public administrations and citizens in general.
This unit will focus its activity on building and imagining new strategies and instruments to reach out to the target audiences, with the aim of achieving twin results:
- Extending the concept of culture to science: increasing scientific knowledge, and interest in and a public valuing of the R&D&I that goes on in the Balearic Islands.
- Advocating dialogue between the scientific community and society: drawing together and co-ordinating scientific communication and dissemination activities, driven by the Balearic University and Research Secretariat, with the various stakeholders involved in the scientific community.
