Extension of the reclaimed water network in several streets in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar.

The project

A required intervention to water the trees and all the green areas of the coastal urban centres of the municipality of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar with reclaimed water. Street cleaning can also be carried out with reclaimed water instead of drinking water.

Everything is attributed to the Extraordinary Annual Plan to promote Sustainable Tourism, in particular, to the priority objective set out in Article 3(2)(a): Protection, preservation, modernisation and recovery of the natural, rural, agricultural and marine environment.

This project aims to reduce the discharge of treated water into the sea, contributing to an improvement in the environmental quality of the marine environment.

Main objectives

- Extend the reclaimed water network to irrigate more areas.

- Meshing of the network for greater security and to ensure its proper operation.

- Reduce the occurrence of leaks in the network in the replaced sections.

- Enable the operating pressure of the entire network to be increased, which will mean

the possibility of irrigating with adequate pressures, especially in the most

remote areas where there is currently insufficient pressure (at present, it is not possible to

increase the pressure because the pipes in some streets would burst).

- Have information on the flow rates of three sectors with the consequent improvement in the control of leaks and consumption.

- Online pressure sensors will improve network management

making problem solving easier.

- Enable online transmission of consumption data as well as historical data for the control of the facilities.

- Contribute to making the costs of water regeneration treatment cost-effective

.

- Contribute to making good quality water available to utilities, hotels and other establishments for irrigation and other uses at a lower cost and with less environmental impact than using drinking water, taking into account the markedly progressive nature of the drinking water tariff.

Description

The network defined in this project starts at the junction of Mare Selva Street and Palmeras Avenue and will serve the northern part of the urban area of Sa Coma.

The new projected network includes reclaimed water pipes in the urban area of Sa Coma, in the streets Mare Selva, Garrover, Tamarell, Mimosas and Eucalyptus.
