The project

The objectives of this project are the conservation and improvement of natural habitats within the territorial scope of the Balearic Islands' natural spaces and, at the same time, the promotion of the integration of groups made up of people at risk of social exclusion.

It should be noted that the tasks proposed are suitable for the particularities of the people who will do them and, therefore, only involve the use of manual tools and not machinery. Therefore, the work to be done is different from that which would be done by another company or with IBANAT's own resources.

The proposed actions are divided into 8 lots:

Lot 1: Conservation and improvement of the sand dune system in the Natural Park of s'Albufera de Majorca and in the s'Albufereta Nature Reserve.

Lot 2: Actions for the protection and conservation of coastal and sensitive areas of Mondragó Natural Park.

Lot 3: Renovation of deteriorated habitats in the Natural Park of the Llevant Peninsula and Sa Duaia through reforestation with traditional species.

Lot 4: Conservation actions on public estates within the natural area of the Serra de Tramuntana: Planícia, Son Moragues, Menut y Binifaldó, Mortitx, Miner Gran and Gabellí Petit.

Lot 5: Renovation of habitats degraded by non-native flora in the Ses Salines Natural Park of Ibiza and Formentera and in the Es Vedrà Nature Reserve.

Lot 6: Elimination of non-native flora for the conservation of habitats and species in the Maritime-Terrestrial Natural Park of the Cabrera Archipelago.

Lot 7: Development of the management plan for the estates of s'Arangí and Cala Turqueta

Lot 8: Manual removal of solid waste in the Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos Natural Park.

In short, it is difficult to fully quantify the benefits obtained from these actions given that they are mainly translated into environmental and social benefits. On the one hand, the environmental benefits will contribute to the conservation of the Mediterranean ecosystems and, on the other hand, the social aspects will have an impact particularly on people at risk of social exclusion and benefit the rest of society as a whole as everyone will be able to enjoy the spaces and natural environments.
