The project

For more than two decades, the Balearic Government has been promoting business innovation through Parc Bit, a key facility for the archipelago’s technological development. In this context, the #EMPRENBIT programme has been designed to provide specialist support to innovative startups and SMEs. The project, carried out between 2017 and 2018, focused on expanding the space available to these businesses through by acquiring new premises.

This action served to provide an additional 175 m2 of space specifically for incubating tech startups in their consolidation phase. This new space joins the existing 1,000 m² in the Disset and Naorte buildings, where both startups and companies that have graduated from the programme are based. This expansion helps #EMPRENBIT to continue providing support throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Its services range from business and financial advice to support in securing public funding for R&D&I. The addition of this extra space means startup teams can work more closely together, and also increases Parc Bit’s capacity as a hub for technological innovation.

Thanks to this initiative, the infrastructure supporting tech entrepreneurship in Mallorca is now stronger, helping towards the goal of economic diversification pursued through public innovation policy.
