Construction of a collection system to complete the sewage and rain water collection process in Porreres
What does it consist of?
The project aims to construct a new receptor to complete the process of separating the waste water and rain water networks, remodel, expand and bring into line with legislation the existing facilities of the current waste water treatment plant, decide on the destination of the water and, finally, create the infrastructure for the waste water entering the waste water treatment plant as a result of the planned treatment.

The project
There are certain background factors to the extension and remodelling of the Porreres wastewater treatment plant which to a large part determine the reasons for implementing this project. In 2007, it was clear that changes needed to be made to the WTP, due firstly to the demands resulting from application of the 2007 Balearic Islands Hydrology Plan.
Secondly, due to the need to adapt the plant to current requirements, as a result of increased population numbers, and thirdly, to the need to complete the process of separating rainfall and wastewater networks that was being carried out in the town. However, this first project came to a halt, due among other reasons to the economic situation at the time, and it was not until 2016 that the contract was awarded for the project to be implemented afresh.
The purpose of the project, therefore, is to build a new collection system to complete the process of separating the wastewater network from the rainfall network, as the core elements of a separate network already exist, and in doing so prevent rainfall from reaching the WTP. This new collection system, therefore, will be exclusively for collecting wastewater.
The project is also aimed at remodelling, extending and legalising the existing facilities of the WTP to give it the volume and treatment level needed to provide treatment to the planned usage levels of wastewater from the town of Porreres in line with new regulations in force. Finally, the project seeks to create the necessary infrastructure for the resulting WTP effluent from the planned treatment, also in line with regulations that have come into force.
