The project is in response to the impetus to preserve the Torrent dels Picarols seasonal stream and the Sa Rota and Sa Mata springs whose waters are used to supply the old related cisterns, where the population of the Majorcan midwife toad is recovering. It also aims to restore and renovate the historical and cultural heritage of the houses to show what life was like in a mountain estate.

The public estate of Ses Figueroles is located in the far north east of the municipality of Selva, with a small portion of the land in the municipality of Escorca, in the northern sector of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain region. It is an unknown mountain estate which has the potential to promote sustainable tourism.
Ses Figueroles has a particularity that other locations do not have and which makes it more valuable: it is difficult to reach. This has converted it into a very well-preserved place where time has stood still meaning that we can see what the place used to be like and what it was like to live on a mountain estate. In addition, it has become a place where the use of water is linked to the conservation of the Mallorcan midwife toad or ferreret (Alytes muletensis).
Given this, the project has two main objectives. On the one hand, the aim is to promote the conservation of the Picarols stream, with a high degree of protection and medium conservation, and the natural water sources of Sa Rota and Sa Mata, whose waters are used to supply the old reservoirs associated with them, where the population of Mallorcan midwife toad is being recovered.
On the other hand, the objective is to recover and rehabilitate the historical and cultural heritage by re-opening the houses to show what life used to be like on a mountain estate. In this way, a part of the history which makes up the culture of Mallorca will be recovered and preserved.
