The project consists of providing the Sínia Riera urbanisation with a sewage network and carrying out improvements in the water supply network, including the connection with the general municipal network. The objective is the endowment and the renovation of the infrastructures of the urban centre, presented by the town council of Es Castell in the 2017 Annual Plan to promote sustainable tourism.
Therefore, municipal action will be carried out on the road to Sant Lluís consisting of improving the drinking water supply network of the Sínia Riera urban centre, and investment will be made in the required works to connect it to the general drinking water network of Es Castell.
This project will meet a social demand that has been made for many years by the citizens of this urban centre, and will solve the problems of the lack of a sanitation network and other infrastructure issues such as lighting, footpaths or telephones.
A good option for an island with limited water resources is to adopt the principle of a closed water cycle. This means that the water from sewage plants is not dispelled into the sea but rather it is returned to the cycle. The reuse of water is an alternative of great interest for increasing the availability of water in areas with limited resources, as in this case.
