A project involving the connection of the Santa Eulària desalination plant with the Ibiza above-ground distribution network

The project

The Santa Eulària des Riu desalination plant is currently unlikely to provide service to the public due to not being in proper conditions to do so. It would need to be first connected to the Ibiza municipal supply network prior to being put into service.

The connection to take place must connect the Santa Eulària des Riu Ocean Water Desalination Facility reservoirs with the above-ground network of Ibiza in proper conditions to enable the transfer of the water between the main production points and the municipal networks delivery points.

The project presented below comprises three main actions. The first involves a new pumping station to power the above-ground network point supplied by the Balearic Government, which will be built on the municipal land where the current reservoir is located. The second action is related to the Sa Llavanera catch pit. It involves a concrete building that will house the necessary elements to connect all the arteries of the general network. Last of all is the 1,140 metre drain collector.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning the main work that will enable these actions:

- The construction of a pumping and piping station for the connection of the Ocean Water Desalination Facility reservoir to the general supply network.

- The construction of an evacuation collector of waste from the current reservoir that will also be used for the 5,000 cubic m³ reservoir to be constructed for the Santa Eulària municipal network.

- The construction of a building to house the operation and control elements.

- A drinking water dispenser for home delivery trucks.

- Pipeline for the evacuation of the drainage of the reservoirs of the Ocean Water Desalination Facility.
