The project basically aims to promote the collaboration and involvement of the seafarers with the conservation of the posidonia underwater landscapes, through the use of the related awareness-raising and information elements to improve the proper state of conservation of the banks of certain posidonia algae, such as environmentally relevant areas.

Improving the conservation of the Posidonia oceanica species and the biological communities it forms part of is a recognized priority and is included in the regional administration’s current commitments.
This is the reason behind this project that focuses on five lines of action:
1. Posidonia phone number. Seafarers must be provided with a phone number for any queries they may have on the protection of the posidonia or to make any suggestions and proposals from the nautical world, in order to provide a more ample service to citizens in relation to the protection of the grasslands.
2. Signage marker buoys. A good idea would be to install marker buoys, especially during the summer, of the areas that are most fragile, providing seafarers with information in situ of the areas to avoid when mooring boats. This will prevent any actions that lead to the deterioration of species and possible breaches of the decree.
3. The posidonia and seafarers observatory. It seeks to improve the information available and open up the implementation of conservation measures of the species to the sector through a technical office that compiles, assesses and communicates data, and a working group with nautical organisations that promotes the results.
4. "Posidonia-friendly shipping". Information sessions will be promoted in order to recognise the involvement of seafarers in the protection of the species and to improve information on the same, offering the option of adding a posidonia flag to any seafarers that pass a test.
5. Permanent posters at ports and nautical clubs. It is intended to add metal or plastic, weather resistant posters with cartography, regulations and information of the grasslands from the area in the nautical facilities in order to allow all seafarers to be aware of and facilitate regulatory compliance.
