Son Boter, one of the creative spaces linked to Joan Miró in Palma, was purchased in 1959 by the artist as a workshop to supplement the foundation's main building. This building, with its historical and heritage value, is still part of the museum route, but shows structural deficiencies that limit its use.
The improvement project includes several actions aimed at bringing the building into line with current safety and accessibility requirements. Fire protection systems, new emergency lighting, evacuation signs and a detection system connected to the Fundació Miró complex will be installed.
Accessibility will also be improved by installing a ramp at the main entrance and removing architectural barriers inside. The works will include the reinforcement of structural elements with pathologies detected in previous inspections, such as the roof of the tool storehouse or interior walls.
These improvements will increase the potential for Son Boter to be used for educational and cultural purposes by facilitating access for people with reduced mobility and improving the visitor experience in a key place for understanding the life and work of Joan Miró in Mallorca.
The project aims to revamp pavements, lighting and green spaces along this city street
