Construction of three connections to enable reversibility of water in the Sa Marineta pipeline and the s’Estremera aquifer

What does it consist of?

This project focusses on the construction of three connections forming the control, switching and regulation elements needed to allow the direction of water to be reversed in the pipeline between the Sa Marineta facilities and the S’Estremera aquifer. There will also be a bypass between the Consell branch and the main pipeline between the Sa Marineta facilities and the S’Estremera aquifer.

The project

The purpose of this project is to supply the north, and the eastern part of Mallorca at a later date, where the towns in those areas could be supplied with water from the s'Estremera aquifer or the Sa Costera source, if necessary, thus enabling the recovery of the Sa Marineta aquifer.

The work consists of the construction of three connections comprising the required control, operation and regulation elements to allow the water reversibility in the pipeline between the Sa Marinera facilities and the s'Estremera aquifer. The connections have been constructed along Camí Vell de Muro within the municipalities of Consell, Binissalem, Inca and Llubí.

This construction will enable the water flow to be reversed through the pipelines between the Sa Marineta facilities and the s'Estremera aquifer, thus allowing it to flow in both directions.

A bypass will be created between the Consell bypass and the main pipeline between the Sa Marineta facilities and the s'Estremera aquifer where a flow and pressure regulating valve is to be installed to improve the regulation and distribution of above-ground pipelines.
