The project

Planícia public estate in Banyalbufar is one of the most iconic spots in the Tramuntana Mountains, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among its buildings, the ‘Cases de ses Collidores’ stand out for their traditional architecture and cultural importance. However, time has left its mark, with wear and tear requiring complete renovation.

The project underway aims to refurbish the houses and make them available to the public as a mountain lodge, bringing them into the Recreational Areas Network managed by the Regional Ministry of the Environment. The location makes the site a strategic point for hikers and travellers on the Ruta de Pedra en Sec (GR221).

The works will maintain the original structure and layout, targeting roofs, outer walls and ethnological elements to preserve the building’s traditional character. The future lodge will have 329 m2 of space spread over two floors, with common areas, a kitchen, dining room, bedrooms, accessible bathrooms and capacity for 10 to 12 people, as well as space for service staff.

Beyond providing accommodation, the project has a twofold objective: to protect a property of exceptional cultural value and to allow public use of the estate, offering direct contact with the natural environment and the landscape. The action has received an investment of €475,742 and is part of broader actions for the conservation and enhancement of the island’s natural spaces.
