The project

Sa Tanca” is a building located at the entrance to the town centre from the road between Maó and Sant Lluís. Construction work began in 2005, but was halted due to solvency problems with the developers. The property is currently owned by a bank.

The building stands on the main route into the town from Maó (Me-8), and was originally intended to be used as a shopping and leisure centre with car park. As the construction work remained unfinished, and the building is unused, the property has deteriorated significantly, with a negative impact on the town’s overall image.

In this regard, the main intervention on this project is to purchase “Sa Tanca” from the bank. The building’s state of repair will be assessed, and the necessary preventive and safety measures will then be implemented.

Once the building has been purchased, it will be used for civic, social and cultural purposes, as well as for training and conferences. This will also recover the entrance to the town centre, which is currently overshadowed and degraded by the building’s poor state of repair. Additionally, the underground car park will be used to increase the number of parking spaces available in the town.
