Electrification of the drinking water pumping well in Biniparratx

The project

This project consists of the electrification of the drinking water pumping well on the Biniparratx road, with the aim of improving the water service and, by interconnecting the two existing wells (the Cap d'en Font well and the Carretera Campament de Biniparratx Nord well) to meet the demand for water with better efficiency conditions.

In the Biniparratx area there are two wells for pumping drinking water, one of which already has a connection from the electricity company. The other, the objective of this project, although it has obtained the necessary authorisations for extraction, does not have an electricity supply.

At times of maximum water demand, usually during the summer months, there is a deficiency in the service, which is why it is necessary to start pumping from an inactive well and to connect it to the existing distribution network. The electrification of the well is part of the plan to promote sustainable tourism by interconnecting water sources, which is included as a priority objective and as one of the projects that should be strengthened in the near future.

This action would improve the water quality by putting into operation a well that has quality water at a higher level than the previous one. In this way, the lower level well which has problems of marine intrusion will be allowed to rest. The final outcome would therefore consist of an improvement in the quality of the water and an increase in availability at times of greater demand.
