The project

The Local Council of Menorca (Consell Insular de Menorca - CIMe) has been developing and implementing a set of information and communication technologies aimed at improving efficiency, added-value services demanded by citizens, and competitiveness and quality of life on the island, with a special focus on tourism.

The aim of this project, from the perspective of the CIMe, is to have a cross-sector infrastructure which, along with other public organisms (island councils, public resource managers, the University, etc.) and private groups (companies and foundations with which there are collaboration agreements), will enable the collection of information on different resources considered as sensitive and important within the unique context of Menorca.

The objective is to complement and improve decision making, maximise efficiency and intelligently use this information with the vision of offering transversal services with added value to the island's citizens and visitors. This initiative has been given the name "Menorca Territory LIVE" (Menorca Territorio VIVO).

The action areas of this project are focused on the protection and modernisation of the rural and natural areas of Menorca, the improvement of the use of water and energy resources, waste management and sustainable and low season tourism. Therefore, it comprises three major technological action areas: a collection network and infrastructure, an intelligent analysis and management platform, and interactive user portals.
