The project is to partially replace the part of the potable water supply network affected by a new network of ductile pit and high density polyethylene PN-10, which runs under the sidewalks. Network that allows the installation of fire systems.

Given that in several streets of Ferreries the drinking water network runs under asphalt concrete roads, which is made of fibre cement that has already exceeded its useful life, the project aims to replace the affected network with new ductile cast iron and high density polyethylene PN-10 pipes, that will run under the footpaths, since the abovementioned conditions cause continuous breakdowns mainly due to the transit of vehicles.
This action will bring about greater network capacity and enable the installation of fire safety systems. In addition it will lead to a significant improvement in the saving of the consumption of drinking water and in maintenance tasks, as well as a better quality service.
The work basically consists of replacing the pipelines of the drinking water network in poor condition and laying the new ones under the footpaths, replacing valves and installing fire hydrants. It should be noted that the work will use materials from Menorca, in order to achieve maximum integration with the environment and landscape of the island. Another objective is that all the materials used will require a minimum level of maintenance. The work, therefore, supposes an improvement with respect to the saving of drinking water and the maintenance of the installations required for the service.
