The project

The project to extend the Palacio de Congresos is part of a tourism diversification strategy that has been gaining momentum for the last two decades. Santa Eulària des Riu, traditionally associated with holiday tourism, is seeking to consolidate its position as a leader in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment, with the capacity to attract visitors in mid and low season.

Opened in 2007, the building currently has capacity and space limitations that have prevented it from hosting larger events. The new infrastructure will include a large multi-purpose room, equipped with mobile configurable systems, and a total capacity of over one thousand attendees. The initiative has been agreed upon by the local business community through the Ibiza Convention Bureau, which brings together over 75 companies in the sector.

The impact of the project goes beyond tourism. A direct impact on employment and the local economic fabric is expected thanks to the knock-on effect on sectors such as catering, technical services and transport. Moreover, the new facility will mean large-scale cultural activities can be scheduled, thus contributing to the cultural life on the island.

Sustainability is also part of the design. The building will be equipped with energy efficiency measures, such as a green roof and rooftop photovoltaic plant. The investment, structured in several annual phases, covers everything from earthworks to final finishes and state-of-the-art stage equipment. Its location, adjacent to the current site, will facilitate the functional integration of both spaces.
