The project

The objective of the project is to determine the necessary actions to be taken for the coastal area of Portmany Bay and the installation of a pedestrian walkway and cycle path along the entire coast, improving the infrastructure of the area for both residents and tourists. In addition, the aim is to improve the operation of the wastewater system in order to increase its efficiency and durability.

As background to the project, it is worth highlighting different actions that have been previously undertaken, all of which were in the municipality of Sant Antoni, such as the promenade connecting the beach of Es Pouet with the centre of Sant Antoni or the path that connects the port of Sant Antoni with Es Caló des Moro.

Regarding the scope of study, it should be pointed out that given that the coastal area being analysed in this project is very important for the economy of the municipalities due to its high density of tourist and residential buildings, it is of vital importance to invest in services and infrastructure focused on maximizing the social and economic benefits that would result from the improvements outlined in this project.

Therefore, the main objectives of this study on reorganising the coastal area of Portmany Bay are as follows:

- Providing a continuous path around the entire bay for pedestrians and cyclists, from Cala Gració beach to Port d'es Torrent beach.

- Designing the best route for the path, improving its quality for cycling and the landscape, as well as the signs and lighting along the current cycle path and the new sections.

- Improving and reorganising the sanitation infrastructures of the southern area of the bay.

- Minimising the visual impact of the cabins which cover the existing pumping wells: Port d'es Torrent station, Ses Fontanelles station, Punta Xinxó station, Punta Pinet station, Caló de'n Serral station, s'Estanyol station and d'es Pouet station.

- Reconstructing and expanding the existing piers to improve maritime traffic between both ends.

- Carrying out a study of the most suitable diving areas.
