The project

Palma City Council has launched an ambitious project to remodel and renaturalise Plaça de Ses Meravelles, located in the heart of the Platja de Palma district. This action seeks to reverse the obsolete and unattractive nature of the current square, restoring its prominence as a focal point of the urban and tourist environment.

Planned improvements include the complete reshaping of the pedestrian areas to meet universal accessibility criteria, the creation of green areas with native vegetation and low water consumption, and the addition of a new water play area and outdoor urban gym. It will also be equipped with a central pergola, areas with natural shade and inclusive rest areas.

The action also envisages a significant improvement in the connection between the sea and the inner urban area by eliminating architectural barriers and promoting comfortable and sustainable pedestrian routes. In this way, the new design will facilitate the fluid interaction between visitors and the natural environment, thus reducing the environmental impact and promoting a healthier and more appealing experience for all tourist profiles.

In addition to its environmental and social benefits, the renovation of Ses Meravelles will help strengthen the image of Platja de Palma as a modern, sustainable and active tourist destination all year round, beyond the traditional sun, sea and sand model.
