The planned intervention in Plaça dels Pins aims to reorganise one of the focal points of Cala Rajada, an area much frequented by residents and visitors alike. At present, the space has deteriorated paving, defective water networks and an unfriendly urban layout for pedestrians. The council proposes a complete transformation based on criteria of universal accessibility and sustainability.
The actions include the creation of a shared-space street to reduce the speed of traffic, the complete renovation of the paved areas and the improvement of the lighting with LED technology. The rainwater and sewage networks will also be separated, the drinking water pipes will be replaced and the green area will be increased by means of larger planters and tree grates. The elimination of architectural barriers will be one of the project's focal points.
The redesign includes a reduction in the traffic lane, new rest areas and limited time slots for loading and unloading, encouraging a more pedestrian-friendly and community-oriented use of the space. Accessible benches will be installed, along with permeable materials to prevent slipping and improve water absorption. The planned investment amounts to 2.3 million euros.
Although no formal participatory process has been carried out, the Town Council has been in contact with traders and neighbours to ensure consensus. The renovation aims to boost the attractiveness of the area outside of the high season, while contributing to the regeneration of a strategic space within the urban fabric of Capdepera.
The Es Carnatge coastline will be renovated with public funds for its conservation and sustainable use
