Thirty years after its first major renovation, the Magaluf Seafront Promenade is facing another transformation. The second phase of the project, funded through the ITS fund, will make it possible to upgrade materials, improve accessibility and make progress in the renaturation of the area, with the aim of boosting more sustainable and orderly public use.
The section undergoing works is between Calle García Ruiz and the eastern end of the promenade. The publicly owned shoreline will still serve the same purpose, but with revamped pavements, furniture and lighting. The border wall will also be replaced by a structure that blends in better with the beach. Moreover, native species will be planted and an irrigation system using recycled groundwater will be installed. With an estimated investment of €3 million, the project aims to establish a model of intervention that respects the environment, combining urban functionality with landscape renovation. The works, currently in the technical preparation phase, are scheduled for the second half of 2025, with completion expected prior to the following season.
This initiative completes those already initiated in the first phase and reinforces the municipality's commitment to regenerate coastal urban areas in line with sustainability standards. Magaluf, one of the most popular tourist areas in Calvià, will thus gain a renovated space that is more connected to its coastline.
