This project aims to revitalise a degraded area in order to promote sustainable sports tourism and extend the tourist season. The project includes the renovation of the sports facilities, the creation of new infrastructure and landscape integration. These actions will help to deseasonalise tourism and attract visitors all year round, which will help to consolidate the Port of Sóller as a benchmark in sports and sustainable tourism.

The "Infante Lois" sports field, located in the Port of Sóller, was built as part of the military base in the area. It was eventually opened to the public as a space for sports and leisure activities. However, the progressive dismantling of the military installations has led to the degradation of this space, although it is still used by the community.
Therefore, the need to rehabilitate the facility is urgent, not only to renovate the existing facilities, but also to create a modern and functional space that responds to the sporting needs of the local population and potential visitors.
Thus, this proposal integrates several key actions. It includes the redevelopment of sports and leisure areas with the construction of adequate football pitches. The refurbishment of the athletics track is also envisaged, with the improvement of the pavement for professional use and the rehabilitation of the existing stands. In addition, a parking area will be created under the track to facilitate access to the whole area.
Moreover, the surroundings will be improved with drought-resistant native spice gardens and a sustainable irrigation and drainage system will be built. The area will also be equipped with new changing rooms, storerooms, toilets and a multi-purpose hall, recreational pavements will be improved, new sports courts will be installed and a pedestrian path with exercise areas will be created. It will also include a new lighting system, street furniture and a perimeter fence for security and maintenance.
The goal of this project is twofold: on the one hand, improve the quality of life of the resident population with a renovated space for leisure and sport. On the other, the aim is to promote sports tourism, a segment with great growth potential that could contribute to the deseasonalisation of tourism in Port de Sóller. The goal is for this type of tourism to attract not only visitors who want to enjoy sporting activities, but also large-scale sporting events.
Furthermore, the improvement of the sports facilities will also benefit other nearby municipalities, such as Fornalutx, Deià and Bunyola, which will be able to use these new infrastructures.
