The Es Migjorn Gran sewage drainage and treatment system covers the urban areas of Es Migjorn Gran and Sant Tomàs, in Menorca.
This consists of the sewage treatment plant, the general drainage system (the sewage pumping station), and the pipelines that transport the sewage from the municipal network to the treatment plant and the pipeline returning the effluent to the barranc de Son Boter.
The Es Migjorn Gran town council requested a change in location of the pumping station, as it is located inside a unit on the municipality’s industrial estate.
Some of the measures to be taken that are included in the project are a gravity-flow pipeline 180 metres in length to carry waste water from the current pumping station to the new station, a low-voltage network from the distribution closet to the new pumping station, a new pumping chamber and service house, and the demolition and waste management of the former pumping station.
